Broomfield’s Best Choice for Custom Paint and Quality Furniture
In the age of big box store success, it seems that individuality and customization have taken a back seat to quantity, and not the quality kind. However, at Unfinished Furniture Colorado, quality and individuality are their top priorities. I sat down with the owner Richard Lambert to learn more about the history of this Broomfield store owner and his adventure into the fascinating world of hand made wood furniture and custom paints.
Richard served as a member of the U.S. Air Force for 22 years. After retirement he rejoined the work force as a teacher, but with a tough job market and spirit for individuality, Richard pivoted towards entrepreneurship. That is when he found Unfinished Furniture Colorado. The store itself has a wide selection of high quality, hand made, wood furniture and paints to fit any style or trend and, if they don’t have the design or dimension you’re looking for, Unfinished Furniture will order it for you. Not to mention, they offer finishing classes to teach people how to DIY in the best kind of way.
Richard said that he really likes what he does because “each piece is like a blank canvas”, and that the customer can be creative and really get what they want. And no matter the color, they can get it. He also likes that his shop is not high pressured sales; he and his employees focus on taking time to meet the customer’s needs. Unfinished Furniture Colorado carries a great selection of paint finishes including chalk paints which cut out the need to prep most pieces before painting.
After taking over Unfinished Furniture Colorado with his wife in 2018, Richard wasted no time giving back by partnering with non profits such as The Bridge House and Habitat for Humanity, supporting the less fortunate members of the immediate community. His love for the locals doesn’t stop there. On the walls of the shop, you can find paintings for purchase from local artists in the area.
Unfinished Furniture Colorado is a Broomfield gem that brings its community not only a sense of individuality, but also a staff and local business that cares deeply for the needs of their neighbors. If you are looking for a decorating experience far from one size fits all, check out the selection at Unfinished Furniture Colorado. They also proudly partner with interior designers and private contractors offering special discounts for fellow entrepreneurs.
